/ The job

How it came together.

The brief was a bright garden room tacked onto the rear of the house — a quiet, characterful space that would sit naturally against the existing brickwork and the older barn-style neighbour.

We brought the walls up in red brick to plinth level for durability and splash protection, then clad the upper walls in rough-sawn boards laid in an irregular, organic pattern that softens the elevation and will silver gracefully over time.

The pitched roof is finished in dark plain tiles with crisp lead-effect ridge and verge details, and two sets of painted French doors flood the room with light and open it straight out to the garden.

We finished the outside with a riven Indian sandstone patio laid on a full mortar bed, dressed back to the lawn — handed over clean, watertight and ready to live in.
