Frilford Extension

A rendered cottage in Frilford gets a substantial ground-floor extension — old outbuildings cleared, new drainage routed, and proper footings poured ready for the shell.

  • /Controlled demolition of existing outbuildings
  • /Site clearance & muck-away
  • /New foul and surface-water drainage
  • /Deep-fill strip foundations
  • /Blockwork up to DPC with airbricks
Excavator demolishing the old single-storey outbuilding
/ The job

How it came together.

The starting point was a tired single-storey outbuilding tacked onto the side of a rendered cottage. The brief was to take it down cleanly and replace it with a properly built ground-floor extension that ties into the original house.

We brought in a tracked excavator with a breaker attachment to drop the old structure in a controlled sequence — protecting the cottage wall, the neighbouring boundary and the mature trees overhead — then cleared the slab and muck-away.

With the site stripped, we set out and dug new drainage runs across the garden, bedding the 110mm runs on pea shingle with proper falls back to the existing manholes and a fresh inspection chamber.

From there it was deep-fill strip foundations, blockwork up to DPC with ventilated airbricks and a brick-on-edge plinth — the slab and shell ready to go.
